I have moved to a new apartment, leaving the original Wheel Questions installation behind, and it has mostly been taken down. I got permission to return to 123 Elm Street, Somerville for the Somerville Open Studios May 2-3, 2009. I didn't get the New England Foundation for the Arts grant. (Unclear why, but I know they prefer permanent rather than temporary installations.) So I started the weekend pretty glum, hanging cards on a tree because the original Wheel has been hauled away. But meeting over 300 people really inspired me. And the landlord said he would keep (rather than remove) the marble spiral I put so much time into laying and leveling. And I got $105 in donations, enough to make me wonder if I might be able to self-fund Wheel Questions and keep it operating through small gifts. Here are some photos from the weekend.
