Wheel Questions fell over two days in a row in heavy winds, and I decided to take it apart just two weeks short of its natural ending date. The 2009 project was entirely self-funded and the structure was just too amateurish. Ultimately the cement base broke during transporting it to various locations and it was just too much.
So what's next? I plan to write a book this winter and explore corporate or charitable sponsorships. If you know someone who can help, please email me at johnny@wheelquestions.org. It was fun to do it once, but I definitely could not invest $15,000 and 1500 hours for a repeat experience in 2010. I hope to raise more like $250,000 and build several of them and make it a small non-profit.
Please note, that is a spare brick I was using to prop up the Wheel. It did not damage the sidewalk at all!
