Why do things exist?

Prev << | Most Recent | Next >>

Feelings are a shorthand for rational decision-making... something that can often go awry. It's something I think about whenever I'm compelled to eat an entire bag of chips.

Why do things exist?

Why doesn't the moon fall?

It doesn't feel right that gravity doesn't apply, but that doesn't make it true.

It also doesn't feel right that things should just exist. So what? Our feelings come from our animal instincts, from our ape ancestors. Why should apes know about the Universe any more than the moon?
